My Nail Polish Collection

hey guys, this arvo i thought i would post my 'Tag: My Nail Polish Obsession' video and also do a blog post on my collection :) my collection isn't big, it might be big to some people haha. i have nail polishes from like 10 years ago that are still good :)

i keep my nail polishes in a tub that goes into a set of draws. i have filled the tub now and I'm struggling to find places to stick my nail polishes! i really want one of those wall mounted ones. but i will get those when i move out of home and have my own makeup studio/room :) so for now i store them in this tub. they are in order of color. i have a lot of different brands in the tub including: BYS, OPI, Rimmel, Blush Amour, Revlon, Cotton On,  Klean Color and Mode. i have a few randoms here and there and the art pens from eBay.

Nail of the Day: BYS Scented "Bright Orange"

hey everyone :)

today's NOTD is BYS's "Bright Orange" scented nail polish from their new scented range. bright orange is obviously a bright orange color. although, it doesn't smell like oranges. I'm really let down by the fact that they don't smell. they just smell like nail polish to me. i went to K-Mart last night and had a look at some other ones they had in the range, and i tried "Fairy Floss" and "Cherry" but they still smelt like nail polish. so i thought if i applied them it might smell when it dries. nope, nothing :( so i wouldn't recommend these nail polishes if you want a scented one. but i would definitely recommend these nail polishes on color and price. i picked this nail polish up for $3 from Carringtons in Melbourne's CBD.

all in all this nail polish is great. i only needed 2 coats to get a nice thick even coverage, and the price is very affordable. and the color range is beautiful. so let me know if you guys have tried out this range! click here to see the full range :)

Update 2: Red Skull Challenge

I FINISHED THE CLAY MOULD!
hehe, hey everyone! last night i finished the clay mould for my Red Skull mask! im so excited! it looks so cool. i tried to get it to look as close to the pictures as i could, and i really think i did a good job (especially since its my first go) now i purchase the liquid latex and apply about 15-20 layers.

who needs fancy CGI?! HOW COOL IS THIS!

here are the pictures of the finished mould :)

i also made Red Skulls belt buckle out of clay with the Skull octopus logo thing haha. i will be painting it when it dries out :)

stay tuned for updates :)

Update: Red Skull Challenge

hey everyone! :)

today I'm writing a quick update about my Red Skull challenge! i have started to make it as we speak and its coming along great! i searched on YouTube and google and what not to find ways i could make a Red Skull mask and came across one video that was really helpful! i found that it was going to be cheap and easy to make it. by using the items below i can make a mask that is going to be perfect!

what i need for the mask is:
. polystyrene head (who i have named Skully)
. air dry clay
. liquid latex

how i made air dry clay:
. 1 cup flour
. 1/2 cup salt
. 1/2 cup water

mixed these all together and kneaded it for about 10 minutes until it formed a squishy clay :)

once the clay is made you can start moulding your clay onto the polystyrene head to create the shapes on Red Skulls face. I've been using these two pictures as a guide..

once i found those pictures i started putting the clay on the face and started moulding all the shapes with my fingers and a spatula and here are my efforts so far :)

the next step after this is to apply about 15-20 layers of liquid latex all over the head and peel it off to make a mask :) i will also be making a bald cap out of liquid latex and applying that also :)

so stay tuned for more pictures and updates :)

1st Challenge - Red Skull

hey guys! so your probably all wondering.. challenge? huh? lol
my dads love to challenge me and want me to be the best makeup artist i can be. and to do this they are setting me minor and major makeup challenges throughout the year :)

my first MAJOR challenge for this year is to recreate 'Red Skull' portrayed by Hugo Weaving in the 2011 movie Captain America: The First Avenger. i need to do the whole shabang on my partner Adam, including costume, makeup, teeth, eyes.. just everything!!

Hugo Weaving as 'Red Skull' in Captain America: The First Avenger
the actual makeup in this film is computer generated. which is why re-creating this will be quite hard, but do-able of course. i have until the 31st of March (my birthday! :D) to do this. so over the next couple of months i will be researching how i can achieve this with makeup and special effects and not fancy computer generation!

when i have developments i will let you guys know. and and and on the 31st of march i will be posting the video on how i got it. so stay tuned for the final product :)
